"We know, we know, it’s a fast-food burger joint you can find in almost any town in America, and increasingly, the world. But if you’re hopelessly addicted to the Double Cheesy-Beef, the brain-freezing shakes or the smiling face of Melvin the Interrupting -- moo moo moo! -- Cow, you may want to make a pilgrimage to the chain’s first location, on the corner of Goodwin St. and Gonzalez Ave., where the menu is exactly what you expect but the décor hasn’t changed since 1963."
N-Forcer

The N-Forcer was one of the original members of the Honor Guard, and he seems to have remained a member throughout their history, which makes him the longest active and the only original member remaining. At least as an entity, not so much an individual. At least two separate individuals have worn the N-Forcer accouterments.

The N-Forcer acted as the corporate symbol for Nicholls-Royce Electronics, a position he has retained through their transformation into N.R.-Gistics, Inc. and into the present day. Just as Nicholls-Royce Electronics' insignia could be seen on the original suit, N.R.-Gistics' insignia is located on the present-day N-Forcer suit's upper left chest area.

<insert comparison images here>

To date, four unique uniforms have been revealed. Juxtapositions of them against each other increases the mystery of this long term enigmatic character. At this time, this Herocopia entry is more questions than revelations, more speculations that facts, and not much substance beyond a publication order list of his appearances to date.
Real Name:

Debuted: 1:1

Earliest known appearance: 1959 The N-Forcer probably has pre-history to the Honor Guard's formation, but there is no evidence of whether is was part of the old or new alignment when Max O' Millions went recruiting for talent and membership.

Affiliation: member of the Honor Guard since its inception

Base of Operations: Astro City

[edit]
Powers

His powers are based on some form of high power energy production and/or containment. He can construct force-shields out of the energy, and he possesses superstrength. Beyond that, the exact nature of his powers, their attack capabilities, its affects on human life forms, the range and nature of its use, the ability to control it, its source, and almost everything related to the hows, whys and whats are still major question marks.

His suit transforms his body into something called "n-force". In this state, his "body" resembles a human form pulsating with an energy-like substance that flows over him, and he does not breathe. The general public does not know whether the identity of the man inside the suit has changed over the N-Forcer's decades-long career, but there have been in fact at least two wearers through the years, if not more.
[edit]
Speculations, Observations and Theories

His suit has undergone significant upgrades, overhauls and at least two complete redesigns. Much sleeker today, far more refined, portable and probably more durable. Most of the clumsiness of the first design is gone. The Mechanical hands, assumed to have been manipulated using finger harnesses, are now completely gone.

<insert miscellaneous information - changes to status - running history> The differences between version three and four are minor. Thigh bands are not part of four, and the upper chest structure is now sculpted more closer to the "body".

There is definitely some very well articulated body details that the energy either flows around or manifests it self from or into. A panel in 1:1 shows ears and a possible hairline.

The various suit parts are now very compact, two leg pieces, two arm gauntlets, a chest covering, a modesty belt (of sorts), and a helmet. Seems to me the suit either generates the energy or helps to contain it. It is also possible that the suit is a vessel for manifesting the energy.

If the latter is true, then maybe the physical body is somewhere else, a lab chamber perhaps, and maybe there are several suits, and N-Forcer can pop from one to other at near instantaneous speeds.

No matter how you look at it though, I figure he and Astra do share a lot of shop talk, comparing energy-flow dynamics, and ideas for "keeping it all together" while in that mainly electron form.

He clearly has scientific knowledge to some significant extent. Not only did Samaritan think to ask him about the microspore buildup in the Closet, he was able to manipulate technological sensors so as to disrupt a warpgate in CS:Beautie.

Wild Theories - pushing the envelope

Although probably human, there are additional possibilities.

Based on his first somewhat clumsy contrivance circa 1959, his suit seems to be a containment device for the energy, with limited miniaturization devices for duplicating certain physical actions.

It also not to hard to image the human like face as being a holographic type technology.

His middle period costume seems to project the most human like structure, because the later facial coverings seems to be a bit of a throwback to an early technology.

Or if other speculation about a lab-accident applies, then maybe the condition got better for awhile in the 60s-70s, but now with age, the problem has degenerated.

However, with so little to go on except a handful of images, it is hard to define N-Forcer, except in purely speculative forms. Part of the charm and fun perhaps, and definitely an early motivator for assembling these "character compendiums."
Rex is a reptilian super-being, possessing a hard exterior body structure and tremendous strength. He is the son of Madame Majestrix, one of the greatest enemies of the First Family and the Queen of Monstro City. Rex is married to Natalie Furst and father of Astra Furst. Rex is a prince of Monstro City.
Powers

Certain physical traits suggests a city-smart, rough New York Bronx bawdiness. In fact, a certain coarse, direct approach to people and situations has been demonstrated. His approach in battle is physical, however he does not lack for quick-thinking, nor does he hesitate at taking charge and directing the scope of a battle.

In non-battle situations, other traits can be readily observed. As mentioned earlier, he is a royal family member, and heir-apparent to the throne of Monstro City. So a certain sophistication and upper-class mannerisms should be assumed. On the other hand, his race is a somewhat savage, warrior-based social hierarchy.
[edit]
History

Marriage occurred in 1979, exact date not disclose yet. Location of marriage not disclosed either, but the one panel showing the wedding ceremony suggests that it might be the First Family's Headquarters, Mount Kirby. His in-laws, Julius Furst and Augustus Furst are recognized in the background, along with a couple of shrouded figures who are obviously of the same species as Rex. There are other colorful characters, but the shadows keep their identities a pleasant, but frustrating mystery.

Rex is a second generation member of the First Family, but detailed information on when he joined is yet to be published. Based on the family structured of the team, it would be assumed that he was officially linked after marrying Natalie. But it is also easy to assume that he was involved in First Family adventures during his courtship period. How long that might have been is also open to conjecture.

Not much is known about his mother or their emotional relationship with each other. Kurt Busiek's Astro City Vol. 2 #2 references a battle that Rex fought against her and alongside the First Family for possession of the Gemension Jewel. The time of that battle is estimated to be in the mid-70s. Shortly after that, a species called the Trenchers invaded, forcing the citizens to flee further into the oceans depths leaving Monstro City abandoned and in ruins. Circa the later half of 1996, Monstro City remained in a state of ruins and abandonment. Its current condition unknown.
[edit]
Speculations, Observations and Theories

His preferred drinking establishment is Bruiser's, and his uncle-in-law, Julius Furst, usually accompanies him there. Given his noble heritage, it is assumed he can dress the part for Butlers as well, but since he can't conceal his identify he rarely if ever attends there.

The naming convention of Western civilization differs from that of Monstro City, and adapting Rex's name to fit it is no precise science. He has alternately been called Rex Zorus, Tyranos Rex, and Rex Majestros, and all three are valid interpretations.
As a teenager, Brian Kinney came to Astro City to meet, hook up with, and (he quietly hoped) become a super-hero. He quickly found a job at Bruiser's bar but the owner K.O. Carson, recommened him to work at Butler's. On only his third day he got the chance to prove himself in front of many uncostumed heroes as he defeated the villian Glue Gun without any assistance. Fortune and fate blessed him with the opportunity to train as the sidekick of the Confessor. It was a magic summer for Brian as his apprenticeship lead to fast advancement and lots of action patrolling the streets and fighting criminals.

Among his highlights were helping Crackerjack prove that an imposter had been commiting crimes in his name, in addition to helping the Confessor with the capture of various criminals.

But that summer of 1997 turned tragic as first the citizens of Astro City turned on their super guardians, and then his mentor sacrificed himself to reveal the real enemies threatening the public good of Astro City and the world.

The very brief career of the Altar Boy went dormant after that tragic loss, but Brian did not lose focus on his goals. After four years of travelling and training, he took up the mission of his mentor, continuing his crime-fighting career by becoming the new force behind the mask and mission of the Confessor.
There is conflicting information about the All-American. One report has him being killed by a sniper's bullet in the Korean War. Elliot Mills mentions that the All-American along with the Lamplighter had just retired in 1959.

One possibility is that someone else, possibly a grown-up Slugger, took over the costume for several years after Appleton was killed.

There also could be some link between the All-American, Slugger, Commando K/Commando K Project/U.S. Government involvement which would show how all these are related, if at all besides what has already been established.
Air Ace is the standard bearer, the definitive first super-powered hero of the modern age. He was a trench man during World War I, who somehow acquired the power of flight due to a frightening war related accident and chemical exposure from an experimental German gas weapon.
To date, Air Ace has only been mentioned in the background, in memory, or while visitors have pondered the statue made in his honor.
History

Air Ace settled in Romeyn Falls in 1919, following World War I. The majority of his super-hero adventures are linked to this area, and his reputation fueled the later explosive migration and growth of super-heroes to what is now Astro City.
[edit]
Powers

His power of flight appears to be an extension of his body's natural functions. He has no wings, no artificial apparatus that enables flying abilities. He carries some form of pistol, probably from his WWI exploits. He wears the goggles, the leather helmet and the scarf of a legendary Air Ace, but his war adventures were in the trenches where he established a positive reputation. Following the gas attack, his focus shifted to another form of heroic activity.
[edit]
Speculations, Observations and Theories:

It is not clear if he maintained his secret identity throughout his lifetime. The speculative links to "Whit" McAleer became widespread knowledge later in his career as a crime-fighter. His direct involvement in early motion pictures based on his adventures, suggests that his private life was made very public. The reasons might be ego, government propaganda, a need for finances, or just the way events unfolded after the accident that caused his mutation.

There have been 32 Air Ace films as of 2004, including features, silents and serials, one was known to be made in 1947. Air Ace even consulted on the first few. There was also a comic book series in the 1990s and a very special statue erected in his honor at Binderbeck Plaza.

One of many foes that Air Ace faced was the Barnstormer Gang
{{Character page

|intro= He burst onto the Astro City super-hero scene in the mid-50s and was an immediate, popular sensation, garnering admiration and respect for his heroic activities.
The Silver Agent symbolizes the new era of the sixties, "the best and the brightest."

|history=The Silver Agent was born in 1932, and died in 1973. There is a great shame associated with his ultimate sacrifice, as attested to on his statue. He is a symbol of all that is good in man, while his death is a reminder of a weakness in human nature, that of not maintaining a stronger faith and commitment to heroic ideals.

Alan Craig was struck by polio in infancy, leaving him a badly diseased leg. This deformity seemed as if it would leave him crippled for the rest of his life. This greatly disappointed Alan. His family had a strong traditional of public service in physical demanding work as firefighters, policemen and the like. He admired them greatly and dreamed of following in their footsteps. In the end he became a mail carrier, the best job his physical condition allowed.

While on the job he stumbled onto a ballot-stuffing scheme by members of organized crime. When they gave chase, he tried to lose them in a nearby park, an environment he was thoroughly familiar with. In his flight, he stumbled upon a cave he'd never seen before. This was near the original [[Romeyn Falls]]. Inside he found a bizarre construct of glowing silver, something alien to his every frame of reference. When he touched it, his body was transformed: his disability vanished, he became stronger and faster, and his senses increased. Using his new athleticism, he became the Silver Agent, finally able to serve the community the way he longed to all his years.

In 1972, the Silver Agent was framed for the (seeming) murder of the Mad Maharajah.

Following his conviction and shortly before his execution, he was tele-ported to the 43rd century by the Silver Centurions, an organization from that era. Future Earth and the other Hundred Worlds were at war with the iGod. The Centurions retrieved the Silver Agent, the legend who inspired them, for help. For three long years he fought alongside them to eventual victory.

After the fighting concluded, the Agent chose to return back to his own time, to avoid the risk of altering the timeline for the worse. His journey back took the form of a series of time jumps, each one sending him further into the past, closer to the day he would die; each one skipping less time than the last. Many of these stops along the way were far from safe or cozy. There were future eras (though dates in history from the 43rd century's perspective) where he fought alongside its natives against the danger of some puissant threat. There were eras where civilization had fallen and he aided in its rekindling. Throughout his eventful journey, the Agent kept a journal of what he encountered, in the hopes that his notes might someday help humanity against the various dangers he witnessed.

As he traveled ever further back, the process was causing his body to accumulate an undefinable kind of energy, imbuing him with more and more power.

On a day approximately twenty years in the future of his home era, he was visited by his nephew Tommy. A young boy when he'd last seen him, Tommy was now older than him, a U.S. Senator. He knew where/when to find him because his uncle himself had told him during another stop in the timeline, one in Tommy's and the world's past but Alan Craig's subjective future.

After that, the Silver Agent visited four crisis points in Astro City's timeline: His "Final Crisis Point in 1984, the Rise of Kerresh the Devastator in 1982, Black Velvet's out-of-control powers flooding the city during the 1977 Gang War, and Madame Majestrix's Invasion in the Spring of 1973. In each he was of immense aid against whatever forces were imperiling his city. By the last one (but first from the universe's point of view), his store of accrued energy from his travels was so vast that he had tremendous super-abilities at his disposal.

He hid his journals in a support strut of the Calkins Bridge, making use of the flight ability he now possessed. Designed by Omnix of the 43rd century Silver Centurions, the journal in fact resembled nothing so much as a glowing blue cylinder. It would convert itself into a format readable to future generations when they needed it.

Next, he visited his nephew Tommy, a boy once more that far back in time. This stop was actually on the very same day as his execution, though at a later hour than that moment of finality. He told Tommy where he secreted his journal, so that he could one day retrieve them.

Finally, he made his final step across time, arriving in the prison from whence it all began, mere seconds after he'd vanished. To an outside observer, it would almost have been as if nothing had happened, though the replacement of his prison garb by his costume, battle-torn, made it clear something had. He was executed by the state in Spring of April, 1973.

In the Silver Agent's last moment, he released all the strange energy he'd accumulated, sending that deep store across the city, suffusing the land with it, marrying the rivers to it, even extending it beyond four dimensional constraints into the past and future. He became the very silver artifact that made him the Silver Agent, and whose energy touches what is, or one day would be or at one point in history was, Astro City.

Was this his death? Rebirth? Or perhaps, something beyond such classifications.

|powers=list of things

|equipment=Uniform and Weaponry

Carries a small pistol that fires various kinds of trick bullets, including ones that act much like smoke bombs upon impact.

Upper part of body is covered in chain mail, with shield shaped armor over the chest and upper back.

Same metallic material is used for arm gauntlets. Note: they do not cover the hands.

Helmet is also metallic and is a half-style, with Germanic knight design influences.

Wears chain mall leggings and cavalier boots.

|speculations= The motivations, personality and character make-up of the Silver Agent are still something of a work-in-progress. No specific story material has been presented to nail this down. Perhaps the best insight is from his first published appearance in Kurt Busiek's Astro City Vol. 1 2. He seemed to have a significant amount of peer admiration, which gave him leadership skills and the ability to motivate others and call upon them for help when needed. He was also very good at making tactical decisions in battle situations. We will undoubtedly see more revelations into the Silver Agent's personality as new story material about his life and death is presented.

It is doubtful that a personality like the Silver Agent would have had much of a personal life. He was dedicated to his work, passionate about doing the best he can. Accommodating personal time and family responsibilities would have proven difficult. Still, not all people are wise enough to know this limitation, but the Silver Agent seemed disciplined enough to understand the sacrifices of his choices.

His gained abilities by traveling through time are similar to the method in which Samaritan gained his powers traveling a great distance to the past.
|footnotes=
Some Interesting Comic History Related Alignments of the Silver Agent:

His debut appearance in a 1959 flashback, references the Silver Agent first appearing just a few years earlier, coinciding with Showcase Comics #4, the generally agreed upon beginning of the Silver Age.

His death in 1973 symbolically aligns with the Death of Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man comics, considered by many Silver-Age fans as the last major event occurring within the overall framework of the Marvel Silver-Age comics material.

|intro= He burst onto the Astro City super-hero scene in the mid-50s and was an immediate, popular sensation, garnering admiration and respect for his heroic activities.

Alan Craig was struck by polio in infancy, leaving him a bum leg that looked as if it would accompany him for the rest of his life. This greatly disappointed Alan; he came from a family whose men all served the public good in a physical capacity, as firefighters and policemen and the like, and he dreamed of following in their footsteps. In the end he became a mail carrier, the closest job he could get with his condition.

While on the job he stumbled onto a ballot-stuffing scheme by members of organized crime. When they gave chase to him, he tried to lose them in the nearby park, an environment he was thoroughly familiar with. There he found a cave he'd never seen before, near the original Romeyn Falls waterfall.

He was incarcerated, convicted, and executed.
Adventures in time

Main article: Silver Agent's adventures in time

Shortly before his execution, he was teleported to the 43rd century by the Silver Centurions, an organization from that era. Future Earth and the other Hundred Worlds were at war with the iGod, and the Centurions had retrieved the Agent, the legend who inspired them, for help. He fought alongside them to eventual victory; a long, arduous process that took three years' worth of time.

After the fighting was over with, the Agent chose to return to his own time, to avoid the risk of altering the timeline for the worse.

On a day around twenty years in the future of his home era, he was visited by his nephew Tommy. A young boy when he'd last seen him, Tommy was now older than him, a U.S. Senator. He knew where/when to find him because his uncle himself had told him during another stop in the timeline, one in Tommy and the world's past but Alan Craig's subjective future.

After that, the Agent visited four crisis points in Astro City's timeline: His "Final Crisis Point in 1984, the Rise of Kerresh the Devastator in 1982, Black Velvet's out-of-control powers flooding the city during the 1977 Gang War, and Madame Majestrix's Invasion in the Spring of 1973.

}}

==Speculations, Observations and Theories:==
The motivations, personality and character make-up of the Silver Agent are still something of a work-in-progress. No specific story material has been presented to nail this down. Perhaps the best insight is from his first published appearance in Kurt Busiek's Astro City Vol. 1 #2.

==Footnotes==

The Gordian Knot

It's about fitting in, being normal. Her special powers and the notoriety of her family make that difficult. Now, at the threshold of her adult life-journey, she finds the goal of achieving some form of "normal" just as elusive as ever. Businesses want her for the novelty of having a celebrity on their payroll, gossip tabloids want to publicize every second of her activities, the privater the better. How does she fit in? More importantly, where does she fit in and can her boy friend, Matt; help her feel she is making the right choices?
